Description
Granary located 25 metres north of Brookes Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a slate roof supported by cast iron staddles. The granary has a square plan and a pyramidal roof, featuring softwood weatherboarding treated with gas tar and specially cut slates for the hips. A plain weathervane sits on a central post of the roof. It has 15 staddles, a complete series, with primary straight bracing and angle ties supporting the hip rafters. The original timber frame and door remain intact, making it an exceptionally complete and unaltered granary from this period.
