Description
Clifton Cottage is a building that likely dates from the 18th century to early 19th century and may be part of the same terrace as St Anne's and Kimbolton Cottage. It was altered in the late 19th century and later. The cottage is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers and features a modern tiled roof with a gable at the south end. It has two storeys and two windows, which are generally sashes with stuccoed lintels and arched lights. There is a two-storey brick bay on the south side and a door on the north side, which is set in a brick porch with an iron balustrade above. Clifton Cottage is listed for its group value, as it is part of a collection of buildings that includes Holmefield College, Winkton Lodge Cottage, St Anne's, Kimbolton Cottages, Willow Cottage, and Bumble Bee Cottage, forming a group with Monks Revel and Gosfield Cottages across the road. Holmefield College and Winkton Lodge Cottage are noted for their local interest.
