Description

The lodge, located about 80 meters southwest of The Rookery, dates from the early 19th century and has undergone later alterations. It features rough cast and lined out walls with slate roofs and decorative chimney stacks. The building has an irregular hexagonal plan and is designed in a picturesque Gothic revival style.

It is a single-storey structure with a three-sided front that includes a pointed arched door with a glazed upper section, Gothic intersecting glazing bars, decorative panelled jambs, and a hood mould. On either side of the door are paired pointed arched casement windows with intersecting glazing bars and flat hood moulds. The right side of the building has two similar paired windows and three ammonites set into the wall. There is a slightly taller block at the rear right with a separate pitched roof, and the stack on this block features two chimneys with twisted vents.

The left side of the lodge accommodates the slope of the site and has two storeys. On the right, there are two similar paired windows at the upper ground floor level. On the left, at the lower ground floor level, there is a 20th-century garage door with a hood mould that remains from a former opening, and a pointed arched door to the right, which is glazed like the front door and has a flat hood mould. The upper ground floor on the left features a similar triple window. The interior has not been inspected.
