Description
Rookstone is a house that was originally the end house in a row of seven, built in the 18th century with later alterations and a 20th-century addition. The exterior is finished in stucco and features a hipped pantiled roof with a brick ridge stack. The house has two storeys and four windows, with three bays on the left that project forward, accented by raised long and short quoins on either side. All windows are sashes, and there is a central six-panelled door with a fanlight, flanked by engaged Doric columns and topped with an open pediment. The building has a plinth, parapet, and coping. To the right, there is a 20th-century bay with sash windows on both the ground and first floors, which also has similar quoins. The left and right returns each have a ground floor canted bay with a 16-pane sash window and an 8-pane sash window on each side, along with a sash window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected, but it was temporarily used as a chapel in the early 19th century.
