Description

A pair of houses dating from the early 19th century, with later 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with slate roofs. They are single-depth, with gabled roofs, and the site's sloping ground at the rear of the property creates an additional storey.

Each house has two windows on the front, along with an added bay to the far right. Most windows are twelve-pane sashes, although those on the ground floor of No. 59 have been modified with larger sixteen-pane sashes in a slightly recessed bay. No. 59 also has a two-light dormer and a two-light attic casement in the right gable. Each house features a panelled and part-glazed door within a double-sunk surround, set within a segmental head.

The ground floor has a channelled platband, a deep cornice, a blocking course, and a parapet, with a large ashlar ridge stack at the centre. At the rear of No. 59, there is a 20th-century dormer above two plain sashes above two sixteen-pane windows on two levels, with remains of a tent veranda (lattice work, valences, and brackets) still present. No. 61 has paired twelve-pane dormers above a single eight-pane window, two large sixteen-pane windows, and French doors; the added bay includes windows with an eight/twelve/eight-pane configuration. It also features a mid-level platband, cornice, blocking course, and parapet.

The interiors have not been inspected. Modern side walls connect the houses to square limestone piers, with a low wall and wrought iron railings and gates between them.
