Description
Monkton Combe School, known as The Old Farm, is a farmhouse that is now part of a school. It is dated 1714 and constructed from coursed squared rubble with freestone dressings. The building features a modern tiled roof with coped raised verges and ashlar stacks. It has two storeys and attics, highlighted by three steep stone gables. There are seven 2-light casement windows with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds, all beneath continuous dripmoulds. The entrance is an off-centre studded plank door set in a chamfered surround, topped with a flat stone hood supported by brackets. Inside, the ground floor left room and the chamber above both feature bolection moulded fireplaces, and there is a turned baluster dog-leg staircase.
