Description
Wellow Primary School and the former Schoolmaster's house are located on the southeast side of High Street in Wellow. The buildings date from 1852, with alterations made in 1894. They are constructed of ashlar with a double Roman tiled roof and feature brick and ashlar stacks. The design is Gothic with an asymmetrical layout.
The central block is single storey and has four 2-light casement windows with moulded mullions and surrounds. To the right, there is a plank door with a 4-centred arch lintel beneath a drip mould, along with a similar door and opening in a single storey porch. To the left is a gabled cross wing, which serves as the hall, featuring three 2-light cross windows, all under drip moulds. Attached to the right is the former Schoolmaster's house, which is gabled and has two storeys, with 2-light casement windows and a door to the left that shares similar details with the main block.
