Description

Monmouth Cottage and Upper Baggridge Farmhouse are a mid-17th century farmhouse, with possible earlier origins. It is constructed of rubble with a modern tiled roof and coped raised verges. The building has an L-shaped layout. The garden elevation has two storeys and three bays, with a projecting two-storey gabled porch to the left. The windows are a mix of styles, primarily 3- and 4-light casements with ovolo moulded mullions, with one 5-light window on the ground floor under a drip mould, and a single glazing bar sash window to the right. A modern door is located in the porch, with an ovolo/ogee moulded surround and a 4-centred arch lintel, featuring shields in the spandrels, all beneath a drip mould. The rear elevation contains modern casements and a porch. A rear wing, Monmouth Cottage, has two modern casements. The interior features a cross-passage, with two rooms to the right and one to the left. The left-hand room has a panelled, plain chamfered flame ceiling.
