Description
Brook Lodge is a group of three houses, originally separate, now combined into one dwelling, dating from the early 19th century. The left-hand section represents the original Brook Lodge. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a double Roman tiled roof featuring coped, raised verges. The building has two stories and attic space, with modern dormers added to the roof. The front elevation has a single window and two doorways on the ground floor, and three windows on the first floor. The windows are 2- and 3-light casements with moulded mullions and drip moulds above. A six-panel door is centrally positioned on the right, set within a moulded surround and drip mould; a similar doorway is blocked on the left. The left gable end features a projecting, two-story canted bay with pointed Gothic windows on the ground floor. To the right of the original lodge are the former Brook Cottage and an adjoining cottage. These sections are built from coursed rubble stone with freestone dressings and quoins. They originally had two stories, one window and one door per house, and two windows on the first floor. The windows are 2-light casements in moulded surrounds with depressed ogee heads on the ground floor. A six-panel door with an overlight and moulded ogee headed surround is located on the right, with a similar, blocked doorway to the left.
