Description
The Rectory, now divided into two houses, dates largely from the late 18th century, though it likely incorporates fabric from a 17th-century building, with alterations and extensions from the early to mid-19th century. The rear (garden) elevation is constructed of ashlar, with a slate roof concealed behind a parapet and a moulded cornice. Original quoins and a plain band are also present. The elevation is two storeys plus a basement and attics, featuring a three-bay design with a further bay added in the 19th century to the right. The ground-floor windows on the left incorporate Venetian windows with Gothic glazing bar sashes, while those on the right have larger panes. Upper-floor windows are tripartite, with blocked outer lights displaying a painted glazing bar sash pattern. Blind boxes are present. A central window features semi-circular head large-pane sashes. The wing to the right has a single-storey bay window with a pierced parapet above, and a glazing bar sash window above that. A central French door provides access. The entrance elevation features a central block with four glazing bar sashes in moulded surrounds. The wing to the left has a half-hipped roof, and the wing to the right a gabled, early 20th-century design. A central, single-storey, solid porch with a parapet (extended in the 1980s) now fronts the entrance, containing an eight-panel door to the left.
