Description
Oak Cottage is a mid-19th century house that is part of a pair. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof. The house has a single-depth wide frontage plan and is set on a slightly offset plinth made of squared and coursed work, positioned across the steep slope of a hill. The last bay on the right side was added later.
The exterior of Oak Cottage consists of two storeys and three bays, with a window in each bay and a mid-height stair window located between the left-hand bays. All windows are original sashes that include sliding louvred shutters. The right bay is an addition to the original structure, where a wide plank door is situated at the junction, along with a small single casement window and a two-light casement window to the right. Beyond the plain, coped-gabled right-hand end, there is a garage topped with a pantiled roof. The house features three ashlar chimney stacks, one at each end and one at the junction between the two parts. The gables are coped and supported by kneelers. The rear of the house has three widely spaced twelve-pane windows on each level, along with one two-panel door that has arched heads.
The interior has not been inspected. The attached house to the left is not of special interest and is not included in the listing.
