Description
The Plim Bellamy Tomb, located in Abbey Cemetery, is a Grade II listed aedicule monument dedicated to Benjamin Plim Bellamy, who died in 1847. Constructed in 1847 from Pennant stone, the tomb is signed by Reeves, a mason from Bath. It features four columns that support a pitched canopy, which contains an inscription block. The inscription highlights Bellamy's qualities, noting his tenderness of heart, variety of talents, extensive attainments, and perfect probity, stating that he was generally welcome as a companion and invaluable as a friend due to his firmness of character. Historically, Bellamy was the proprietor of the Upper (or Assembly) Rooms and resided at Beacon Hill in Walcot. The tomb is situated in section IV.A.30.31 of the cemetery.
