Description

The Abbey Cemetery Ingram Tomb is a Grade II listed tomb dedicated to Elizabeth Ingram, who died in 1845. This tomb is designed in the Norman Revival style and is constructed from Bath stone. It features a central arched section with a chevron-moulded hood-mould supported by colonnettes with scalloped capitals. The lower side sections are also arched and rest on a corbel table. There is cable moulding around the inscription panel.

Elizabeth Ingram was the wife of the Reverend Dr. James Ingram, who served as the President of Trinity College, Oxford, and they resided at 11 South Parade. The Abbey Register refers to this structure as the "Norman Tomb over the Grave." This tomb, along with the nearby Manners's cemetery chapel, represents an early example of the Norman Revival style and is noted for its unique design as a tomb. It is located in section III.E.1.2 of the cemetery.
