Description

Tunbridge House is a farmhouse, later adapted for residential use, dating from the early 19th century, although it likely incorporates elements of an earlier structure. The house is constructed of rubble, with painted and rendered surfaces to the rear, and has a two-span slate roof with gable stacks on the left side. The front features two gable ends, presenting a two-storey, two-window facade. The ground floor has a sash window, its head detailed with gauged brickwork, and a panelled and glazed door to the left, topped with a decorative leaded fanlight. A canopied porch, made of lead and wrought iron, protects the entrance. First-floor windows are sash windows; the window on the left has a cambered head, while the one on the right has a flat head. Each has 16 panes. A lower two-storey addition is visible on the right return, featuring a small 16-pane sash window on both the ground and first floors. A 20th-century window is on the side of this addition. The left return has two 16-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors. The rear elevation includes a left-hand addition with a lean-to porch and a 20th-century three-light window with a segmental head. The rear of the main house is rendered and features a three-light casement window with a cambered head at ground floor level, alongside a variety of sized sashes at first floor, and another three-light casement to the left side. The interior is not accessible.
