Description

This is a row of five houses built around 1820, with alterations made in the 20th century. The houses are constructed from limestone ashlar, with the facades of numbers 26, 30, and 32 painted. The roofs are generally tiled, although number 24 retains its original slate covering. The houses are arranged symmetrically, being a single depth wide and possessing a basement. Each house originally had three sash windows on each floor. The front doors are centrally positioned and panelled, with glazed lean-to roofs above the basement windows. Number 30 has a projecting double-fronted shop window and entrance. Number 32 has been modified to create a bank frontage. The frontages are topped with a small cornice and a blocking course, with parapets and coped party gables featuring square stacks. The right gable end is plain. The internal details of the houses have not been inspected. Simple spear-head railings run along the front of the terrace from numbers 24 to 28, returning at the left-hand end and stopping at a ramped ashlar wall on the right.
