Description

Probably dating to the late 18th century, Nos 1, 2 and 3 Market House occupy a prominent position opposite the end of the High Street in West Tarring. The building is symmetrical in design, with two storeys. It is constructed with grey headers and red quoining and window surrounds. Four widely spaced sash windows featuring glazing bars are present. There are three Victorian shopfronts: the central one sits beneath the two central windows; the end shopfronts have doors at their inner ends, while the central shopfront has two doors with six fielded panels. A projecting moulded cornice defines the shops. The roof is steeply tiled and has been renewed. Nos 1, 2 and 3 Market House, together with Nos 54 to 58 (even), form a notable group.
