Description

Banner House and Banner Cottage are a pair of cottages located on the west side of High Street in West Tarring. They date back to the 17th century or earlier, with a thick rendered facing that likely dates from the 18th century. The cottages are two storeys high and feature a steeply pitched slate roof with very small goblets at each hip. The timbers are exposed on the upper part of the north end. No 7 has four modern casement windows and a neo-Georgian or renewed doorcase. There is a parallel range at the rear, probably from the 18th century and slightly taller, with a hipped tiled roof made of cobble and brick. These buildings are part of a group that includes the George and Dragon Public House and Nos 3 to 19 (odd), including No 13a (Chippers).
