Description
Little Blacklands is a house located on the west side of High Street in Lindfield. It dates from the late 15th century and 16th century, with restoration carried out in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed with plastered infill set on a brick and stone plinth. The roof is primarily covered with Horsham stone slate tiles, although it has been heightened with tiling.
The house has two storeys and features five windows. On the right side, there is a projecting hipped gable that includes some tension bracing. The timbering is characterized by square framing, and there are five restored early 19th-century casement windows. A 20th-century penticed porch, supported by wooden piers and featuring splat balustrading, is present at the entrance. A decorative wrought iron bracket with a lamp is located on the left side. The roof has a cruciform chimney stack at the ridge and an external brick chimney stack on the north side. To the south, there is a one-bay 20th-century extension, which is not of special interest.
