Description

This is an early 18th-century cottage. Originally a two-bay, timber-framed building with an end chimney stack, it was extended in the 20th century with matching materials and a modern rear extension. The ground floor is painted brick, the first floor is tile hung, and the roof is tiled with a half-hip. The cottage has two storeys and three windows, featuring 20th-century casement windows. A modern, gabled brick and timber porch with a plank door is centrally located on the old part of the building. A large, external stepped brick and tiled chimney stack is on the left side. The interior features jowled posts and exposed beams, with a good set of carpenter's marks. It also includes an 18th-century winder staircase, three original plank doors (one with an 18th-century circular cat door), and a large inglenook fireplace containing a bricked-in bread oven.
