Description
The Kings Head Hotel is an inn that dates from the late 18th century and was altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a tiled roof that is concealed by a tall parapet with stone coping. The building is a two-storey corner structure that is not quite symmetrical, with five windows facing South Street and four windows facing Church Street. The windows on South Street and the end window on Church Street have panels above them. The sashes have cambered reveals with verticals only, and there is a band between the ground and first floors on the Church Street elevation. The South Street elevation includes an off-central Tuscan portico, while the Church Street side features a doorcase with a flat wooden hood on brackets, a semi-circular fanlight, panelled reveals, and pilasters. Inside, there is a 'Gothick' glazed doorcase, a 19th-century frosted Public Bar screen and bar fascia, and an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters and a curved newel post.
