Description

No 36 Carfax is likely a 15th-century building that has a late 18th-century or early 19th-century exterior. It has two storeys, with three windows facing east and two facing south. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a modern slate roof. The sash windows retain most of their glazing bars, and there is a modern shop front. Inside, there is a king-post roof with moulded capitals and moulded tie-beams. This building is noted as the only surviving medieval structure in central Horsham. No 36, along with Nos 4 to 7 in sequence, forms a group with Nos 9, 9A, 9B, and 10 Middle Street.
