Description
21 West Street is an early 19th century building that was formerly two cottages, Nos 20 and 21. It has been completely refronted in a Neo-Georgian style. The building features a red tiled gabled roof with an old stack at the eastern end. It has a modern moulded eaves cornice with modillions. The façade is made of modern brick, with a rendered band above the ground floor that includes keystones above each ground floor window. There are four sash windows with flush boxes, flat arches, and intact glazing bars. The flat arched doorway is flanked by fluted pilasters and topped with a modern rectangular pediment on consoles. The door itself is a six-panelled design with four fielded panels, while the top two panels are cut away and glazed, and there is a rectangular fanlight above. This building is part of a group that includes the Church of St Peter, Nos 21 to 25, the John Edes House, and Nos 27 to 33.
