Description
No 22 on West Street is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall with a basement. The façade is stuccoed and features four windows. It has a moulded cornice and a parapet. The sash windows, which have intact glazing bars, are set in flat arches within reveals. The first-floor windows are distinguished by moulded frames and cornices, and they are adorned with iron balconies. The ground floor is characterized by pilasters of quoins, with windows and doors positioned behind them in an arcading style. There is a stringcourse above the ground floor, and the area below the windows has grooved panels. Access to the building is via flights of four steps leading to flat arched doorways, with doors set in panelled reveals. The doorway at the western end features a double door with eight moulded panels. This building is part of a group that includes the Church of St Peter, Nos 21 to 25, The John Edes House, and Nos 27 to 33.
