Description
This is an 18th-century building with a timber-frame core, situated on the South Side of Westgate. It is adjacent to Number 17 but has a lower frontage. The roof is tiled, with a hip at the western end and a central brick stack. There are two dormers with flat roofs. An eaves cornice runs along the top. The exterior is stuccoed.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with four windows on each floor. The upper windows are sash windows with flush boxes, moulded frames, and intact glazing bars, all set within flat arches. A three-sided canted bay window with French windows in the centre projects over the porch and is protected by an iron balcony railing. The stuccoed porch has a flat arched doorway with fluted pilasters and an entablature featuring modillions. The door itself consists of six moulded panels. A modern door is incorporated into the western end. The ground floor has four sash windows in reveals, also within flat arches, with intact glazing bars.
Timber framing with brick infilling, partially herringbone patterned, is visible at the western end, featuring tall rectangular panels and some diagonal bracing. A north-south wing extends behind the main building, likely timber-framed, with a truncated stack on its southern gable end. Numbers 11 to 25 (odd numbers) form a cohesive group.
