Description

This is an 18th-century building of three storeys, situated on North Street. It has five windows. The roof is mansarded, with a large gabled dormer window added in the 19th century. A dentilled brick cornice runs below the eaves. The façade is characterized by narrow vertical bands of grey brick headers alternating with wider bands of red brick, the latter used in the window bays. The windows are sash windows set in shallow reveals with flat arches, featuring rubbed brick voussoirs and intact glazing bars. A very large, projecting three-light bow window, stuccoed and incorporating pilasters and moulding on the architrave, is positioned above the doorway. Below this is a flat-headed porch with Adamesque moulding on its frieze, supported by columns. The entrance is a six-panel moulded door set within panelled reveals. A plate-glass shop window in a horizontally fluted frame is present on the north side. The building forms a group with Nos. 27 to 32 and No. 32A on North Street.
