Description
Nos 23 and 24 on North Street are a pair of early 18th century houses that stand three stories tall. No 23 features two windows, while No 24 has four. The houses are constructed of red and brown brick, with some parts replaced; No 23 has recently been refaced. No 23 includes brick pilasters. Both houses have sash windows with flush boxes set in flat arches, featuring rubbed brick voussoirs and intact glazing bars. The second floor has smaller windows. The ground floor has large shop fronts that are not particularly attractive. Centrally located between the two houses are two well-designed doorways, each with Doric columns, pediments, and semi-circular fanlights, leading to six-panel moulded doors set in panelled reveals.
