Description

These are two 18th-century houses situated on the west side of South Pallant. Number 15 slightly projects further east than number 16. They have red-tiled hipped roofs and a dentilled brick cornice below the eaves. The east front of both houses has been recently roughcast, although number 15 was originally of red brick with grey headers alternating, and number 16 was of red brick only. Each house has a single window bay, but the windows are not aligned. They feature modern sash windows with square heads, flush boxes, and intact glazing bars. A passage runs between the two houses, positioned beneath the first floor of number 15. This passage is accessed by two modern glazed doors with sidelights and a fascia displaying a painted advertisement, with glazing bars to both the doors and sidelights. The south end of number 15 has a six-panelled door; the top four panels are raised and fielded, with two flush panels, and a segmental fanlight above. The doorcase features narrow pilasters and a rectangular pediment with small modillions. Number 16 has a similar door within reveals, but without a fanlight, featuring grooved pilasters, entablature, and a rectangular pediment with modillions.
