Description

The Victoria Institute, located at 10 Tarrant Street, is a mid-19th century building that was originally the Arundel Savings Bank and later became a working men's club to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The building is stuccoed and has two storeys, featuring a plain massive cornice and a blocking course that conceals the roof. It has three bays, with all windows being double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars. The entrance door has one recessed panel with a moulded surround and is accessed by one Bognor Rock step, topped with an oblong fanlight and set in a plain reveal, with one half placed in a plain recessed panel.

On the ground floor, there are two windows framed by Graeco-Egyptian aedicules on plinths, which are adorned with pilasters and prominent cornices that also have blocking courses. The first floor windows are set in plain recessed panels, featuring oblong panels in relief beneath the flanking windows, with the name "Victoria Institute" displayed in sans-serif lettering beneath the central window.
