Description
The Queen Anne and Cuckoo Clock Restaurants, located at Nos 74-76 on the north side of Shoreham-by-Sea High Street, are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century. The buildings are timber-framed, with the left side rendered and the right side plastered, featuring a very shallow break-back to the right of the center. There is a brick eaves cornice to the right of this break-back. The cottages have a slate roof with a projecting stack on the left and a central ridge stack.
They are two storeys high, with an irregular arrangement of windows: five on the first floor and four on the ground floor. The left side of the break-back has diamond-lattice casements, while the first floor above features wooden casements over small square bays below. There are two entrances in the center to the left of the break-back; the entrance to the left is stable-type for No 76, and the one to the right is half-glazed for No 74. Additionally, there is a glazed door to the right between the square bays. A datestone on No 76 indicates the year 1706, likely marking a rebuilding date or a decorative choice.
