Description

The Church of St Mary of Bethany is a church built in 1907, with mid-20th century extensions designed by W.D. Caröe, showcasing a free Tudor Gothic style. It is constructed of brick, featuring tiled and stone dressings, and has a plain tiled roof. The layout includes a nave and a north aisle, with a chancel located to the east.

The west front is notable for its large west window, which has square panel tracery and billets along the horizontal tracery bars. The window's voussoirs are made of tiles set on edge, topped by a tiled arch that leads to a crowning bell turret. The church has three-light windows on both the north and south sides, adorned with tiled decoration.

Inside, the nave features a bay arcade with arches made of tiles set on edge, supported by square stone piers that are encased in wooden panelling. The apse has a marble floor and includes fittings from the 20th century.
