Description

Christ Church is a church built in 1889 by W.F. Unsworth. It features red brick construction with plain tiled roofs and copper-covered spires at the east end. The church has a four-bay nave and aisles, north and south transept chapels, and an apsidal chancel to the east, along with a 20th-century vestry to the northwest. At the west end, there is a three-bay narthex with a brick-edged roundel above and a tile-edged gable. The south door is set under an arched head with a pent roof hood supported by brackets. The north and south chapels have arched planked doors within four-step brick surrounds, each topped with brick-edged roundels. The spires above the south transept chapel and chancel are adorned with iron weathervanes.

Inside, the church has brick arches with a projecting brick band at the eaves and a King post roof. The narrow ambulatory aisles feature stone-dressed arches. A three-bay arched screen spans the west end, and there is a stone octagonal font in the narthex, along with 19th-century fittings.
