Description
The Old Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with later additions from the 18th century and extensions from the 20th century at the rear. The right side features a timber frame with brick infill, while the left side has a refronting of red and blue bricks. The roof is plain tiled, half hipped to the right, with a stack at the left end and another stack to the right of the center. The building has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of diamond pattern leaded casements, with two on the first floor and a ground floor window to the left under a cambered head. There is a part-glazed door at the right end, situated under a gabled timber porch supported by wooden posts on brick walls approximately 2½ feet high. The right-hand return front displays exposed Queen post construction with corner bracing. At the rear, there is a 20th-century glazed pent roof extension.
