Description
Woking Signal Box, located at the west end of Platforms 2 and 3 at Woking Station, was built in the 1930s. It is a notable example of a Southern Region electro-mechanical signal box designed in the International modern style. The structure is constructed of brick in English bond, featuring cement decorations and a flat roof with an overhanging canopy. The central portion of the building is two stories tall and includes five casement windows and a rounded end. There is a band with 'Woking' inscribed on a panel, and the ground floor has five windows, four of which have been blocked. Attached to the main structure are one-story wings with cement cornices; the right wing has two doors and two blank spaces, while the left wing contains two doors and three casement windows. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported that the equipment represents a transitional stage from mechanical signalling to full power signalling.
