Description
The entrance walls located 160 yards south of the American Military Chapel were built around 1930. They are made of stone and have an oval shape with the longer axis running east to west. A main path runs between the walls, with an additional path to the north leading to the Chapel. The walls are approximately 2½ feet high and constructed of smooth ashlar, featuring square piers at each end. At the top of the walls are triangular section urns with scrolls on lion paw feet, and eagles with outstretched wings depicted on shields. There are three low stone seats with scroll legs in the southern half of the structure. These walls are included for their group value with the Chapel.
