Description

This is a watermill located 10 yards from The Mill House in Byfleet, dating from the mid-18th century. It was extended in the 19th century and restored in the 20th century. The building features whitewashed brick at the lower level and weatherboard above, with plain tiled roofs and curved bargeboards, while the center has a slate roof.

The main mill building is three stories tall and is connected by a two-story gallery over the stream to a smaller building on the right, both of which have gable fronts. Throughout the structure, there are casement windows, with the building on the left displaying two windows on both the ground and first floors, and one window on each floor above. A brick-edged roundel is located at the center of the first floor.

There is a central door with a camber head in a moulded brick surround, topped by a bargeboard slate porch hood, and a further plank door is found on the right-hand return front. The left-hand return front features two arched casement windows on the first and second floors, complete with arched head glazing bars, and there are 19th-century timber frame extensions at the rear.

The smaller building to the right of the main front has two windows on the first floor and a central plank door on the first floor, which is accessed by a flight of wooden steps and is sheltered by a scalloped flat porch hood. The ground floor on the left side has a double plank door.
