Description
Wayout Lodge is a lodge dating from 1860, designed by Charles Buxton and built by Frederick Barnes. It was constructed in a Foxwarren style. The lodge is built of red and blue diaper pattern brick, with a plain tiled roof, crow-stepped gables, and a central double ridge stack. The building has a cross-shaped plan, with the main front facing at a right angle to the road. It is one storey high with an attic, featuring gable dormers and stepped brick corbels to the left. A double arched light casement window is set under a flat drip-hood moulding, alongside a similar double light window within a projecting gable front bay to the right. A diamond brick eaves band is supported by stepped brick corbels. There are two ground floor windows: a three-light window to the left and a five-light window to the right, both beneath flat drip mouldings. A planked door is located within a gabled brick porch on the left end, with a further door under a pentice roof porch hood supported by brackets on the right.
