Description

Broom Cottage is a 16th-century cottage with a 20th-century addition to the right end. It is timber framed and has a whitewashed brick facade, with a plain tiled roof that steps up to the extension. End stacks are located to the left and right. The cottage is two storeys high, featuring 20th-century casement windows—two across the first floor on the left. A glazed door is located at the left end, and a planked and ribbed door is situated to the right, sheltered by a wood-shingled gabled porch. A catslide roof is present at the rear, exposing the timber framing.

Inside, the timber frame is visible, with a main beam displaying stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. Corner bracing and Queen post construction is visible on the first floor, along with remnants of an original mullion window.
