Description

Gorse Hill is a former house built in 1910 by E P Warren in a classical style. The building features a combination of render and stone with a hipped plain tiled roof and two panelled stacks on the main block.

The court front has two storeys and an attic, highlighted by three segmental pedimented dormers, with the outer dormers featuring flanking scrolls. It has nine bays, with the centre five recessed. The glazing bar sash windows have arched mouldings and keystones above in the outer bays, and cill aprons below. The central projecting stone entrance bay is quoined and pedimented, with a first floor window that has a lugged surround and flanking foliage scrolls. The entrance features half-glazed doors set in an Ionic plaster surround, supporting a segmented pediment and a projecting keystone. There is also a bay set back to the right side, which has a rusticated gable and a Venetian window on the first floor.

The garden front consists of seven bays, with the centre five recessed. It has hipped roof dormers at the ends, and the central three dormers are linked. The outer doors have segmental pediments and black surrounds, while the middle dormer features a triangular pediment with an eaved foliage surround. A bow window is located in the centre of the ground floor, supported by six Doric columns that are glazed between. The hoppers are dated 1910.
