Description
Ellis Place is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with significant extensions and enlargements made in the 20th century. The original structure is timber framed with colourwashed brick infill, and the extensions are also colourwashed brick, all covered by a continuous plain tile roof featuring ridge cresting and a rebuilt stack at the rear. The original house has two storeys and two bays on the left, along with a projecting gabled bay on the right. It features 20th-century casement windows, with three located across the first floor. The gable front reveals exposed queen post construction. The extensive additions on the left include two gabled bays and an arched ribbed door in a quadrant bay. On the right end, there is a gable front addition with drip moulding over the casement windows. Inside, some of the original framing has survived, although much of it has been restored.
