Description
Number 43 on The Borough is an 18th-century building that stands three stories high with a basement. It is finished in stucco and features a plain frieze and a moulded wood cornice, along with a small parapet and a slate roof that is hipped to the right. The second floor has two windows with altered glazing, framed by architraves. On the first floor, there are two splayed angular bays; the central light is four panes wide, while the sides are two panes wide, all topped with a moulded cornice and lead flats. The ground floor has a shop from 1932, which includes two bow windows, each consisting of five panes by five panes, and basement grilles beneath. The central glazed door has nine panes and two bottom panels, featuring a rectangular pattern, and there is a three-panel house door to the right with a similar fanlight. Both doors are set beneath a deep moulded entablature that follows the curve of the bows and is broken forward over the doors on cut brackets. This building is part of a group that includes the Borough front of the Bush Hotel and Nos 29 to 44 on The Borough.
