Description

Numbers 41 and 42, which are the premises of Boots, Chemists, date from the 16th to 17th century but were entirely rebuilt around 1930 on the road front. The building features a single-gable front made of timber-frame with stucco infilling, which oversails at the first and second floor levels. It has modern loaded casements and a small central angular bay on the first floor. The ground floor contains a modern shop with two flat bows and a central entrance. The back part of this building was formerly part of Number 40, and an older rear range runs parallel to the wing behind Number 40. In the late 1870s, Francis Sturt, the father of George Sturt, took up tenancy here. The Borough front of the Bush Hotel and Numbers 29 to 44 form a group.
