Description
This is a house with a core dating back to the 15th century, significantly altered in the 17th and 18th centuries, and with 19th-century additions. It is timber-framed and sits on a sandstone plinth, with brick infill in the central section. The exterior presents a mix of materials: sandstone rubble cladding to the left and right, and whitewashed roughcast infill above. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section over the central bay and a hipped end to the right. The house is arranged in a T-shape, with a wing extending to the rear. The left side is two stories high, while the right side has one story and an attic space under a tile-hung dormer. A substantial ridge stack is located to the left of the centre, with further stacks at the rear. There is a small three-light window to the first floor on the left, and a larger three-light window to the ground floor. The central bay has two first-floor and one ground-floor windows, while the right side has two leaded windows on the ground floor. A basement is present on the left side. A half-glazed door is set within the shallow return wall of the central half-hipped bay, but the main entrance is now at the rear, within a gabled, two-story porch built into the angle formed with the rear wing.
