Description

Turner's Farm House is a house that dates back to the early 16th century, with later additions from the 16th and 18th centuries, and remodelled and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame that is exposed on the right side, with brick infill and some sand and ironstone rubble infilling in the center. The left side has brown brick extensions with a tile-hung first floor, and the roofs are plain tiled. The house has an H-shaped plan with two gabled end cross wings and is two storeys high.

There is a cut-off stack on the left front, a stack in the center, and an end stack on the right. The right-hand gable has cusped bargeboards and an exposed braced crown-post. On the ground floor, there is one three-light diamond-pane lattice tracery window, and one on the first floor. Above the ground floor, there is a blue header band with two first-floor and two ground-floor windows, all under cambered heads, except for the left-hand first-floor window, which has lattice tracery.

To the left, there is one window on each floor that links to a double-jettied left-hand gable wing, with ground floor posts supporting the lower jetty. The ground floor features a three-light leaded "cross" window, and above it, there is an oriel window under the gable jetty, supported by a central bracket. The central door leads to a lobby entry, and there is a pentice extension at the rear. The rear elevation of the right-hand cross wing is finished in galleted ironstone.
