Lodge to now demolished house. 1896 by H. Paxton-Watson for Whitaker Wright, the financier. Free Tudor style. Snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings below, restored C20 plain tiled roofs, copper dome on turret. Irregular plan. Two storeys with panelled stone stack to right. Taller range to left, set back with end and centre gables under apex crosses. Keystoned panel to each gable under moulded eaves. Two-light leaded casement window under eaves to front, over diamond shaped panel. Large arched moulded surround to arched and panelled double doors, part glazed to top, with flanking arched door under decorative parapet to left. Angle tower to right in angle with projecting gabled range. Three stone, 2-light, mullioned casements to top of tower, dome above. Part-glazed door under depressed arch and flat stone hood. Canted walls to ends of gabled wing with one 3-light leaded casement window on both floors. One single light window in canted walls on ground floor.
