Description
Old Hall and Oak House is a house that has been divided, dating from the early 16th century with extensions from the 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a plinth made of sandstone and ironstone rubble, with whitewashed render cladding and infill to the exposed first floor frame on the right-hand return front. The roofs are plain tiled and date from the 20th century. The building has an L-shaped plan with a cross wing to the right and stands two storeys tall. The first floor of the cross wing jetties out, supported by a moulded bressumer and bracing. There is an offset brick-dressed stack to the right, which was once colourwashed, and additional stacks on the cross wing and to the left of centre. The left side has one window on each floor of the set-back range. The centre of the first floor features two leaded casement windows, while the ground floor has one window. The gabled cross wing has one window on each floor, with pierced bargeboards above. The Old Hall has a half-glazed door located to the centre left, sheltered by a flat hood, and there is another door in the right-hand return front of the three-bay cross wing, which is known as Oak House.
