Description
Meadfields Hangar is a late medieval hall house that has undergone alterations. The entrance front reveals two left bays that were originally floored, along with part of the hall bay, which is now floored at a higher level. The building features large square framing with diagonal braces on the first floor and a brick ground floor. It has a high-pitched, long hipped tiled roof with a gablet. There is an inserted 17th-century brick stack with rebated angles and a modern dormer. A cross-gabled right wing, added in the late 19th century, projects from the building and has a roof that descends in a catslide on the left side, covering most of the hall bay. The wing is tile hung above and roughcast below, with leaded casements. The left return of the old house displays original framing without jettying, and there is likely a 17th-century lean-to, while the rest of the back is covered by later additions.
