Description

Nos. 9, 11, 11A, 15 and 17, Park Row comprise a group of buildings dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century.

No. 9 is a late 18th-century building of two storeys, constructed of colour-washed brick with an old tile roof. It features two windows and a central door with half-glazing. The door is set within a plain frame with double scroll-cut brackets and a delicate cornice, broken over the brackets and topped with a pediment. The left-hand window has been altered to a three-light design. A 19th-century shop window is also present.

Nos. 11, 11A and 15 form a single block, also dating to the late 18th century, and include an attic. They are constructed with brick on reed panels, with a doorcase containing panelled pilasters. The original glazing bars are largely intact; however, the ground-floor window of No. 11 has been altered.

No. 17 is an early 19th-century building of two storeys constructed of red brick. It has a projecting plinth, boxed eaves, and a tiled roof. The first floor has two windows with architrave frames and segmental heads, while the ground floor has two windows with moulded frames. All window arches incorporate keystones. A six-panel central door, reeded and of a flush design, with a rectangular fanlight, is contained within a doorcase of panelled pilasters, a broken entablature, and a pediment, though the door has been altered.

These listed buildings, along with Nos. 3 and 5, Sheffield’s Yard, and The Windsor Almshouses (and the wall behind them) form a notable group.
