Description

This is a house, originally built in the late 16th century, that has been extended and divided into separate dwellings. The central part of the house retains a timber-frame structure, visible on the rear elevation, which is clad in red and brown brick at ground floor level and tile hanging above. The later, 20th-century gable-ended cross wings have brick ground floors and pebbledashed upper sections with imitation framing in the gables. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The house is two storeys high, with a stack to the left of the centre and front stacks in the angles of the wings. Windows are a mix of casements, with four windows on the first floor of the central range and two below. Each end wing has a single window on each floor. There are several entrances: a door to the left of the centre leads to a lobby (number 7), a further door to the right is located in the angle between the main house and one of the wings, with a modern glazed porch (number 6). Half-glazed doors are found on the return fronts of numbers 5 and 8. The cross wings extend at right angles to the rear of the house. Internally, some timber framing is visible, particularly the main posts.
