Description
This is a house located at 109 Brighton Road, likely built in the late 17th century, with possible remnants of an earlier timber frame. The structure features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and two bays, with a wing added to the rear right and a rear outshut in the angle formed by the wing. The house has a brick plinth and a square panelled timber frame, with members that are generally of light scantling. The central door is a modern board door set in an open, gabled porch. There are two 2-light leaded casements on each floor, with the first-floor windows being smaller and featuring diamond leading. An external stack is located at the right end, corbelled out at the first-floor level. The tile-hung apex of the gable of the added rear wing rises above the ridge on the right side. Inside, the timber frame members at the back of the building are of heavier scantling, and some members have grooves that once held wattles for the infill panels. The roof consists of collared queen strut trusses and flat-laid rafters.
