Description
The tombstone of Julia Jekyll is located in the graveyard of the Church of St John the Baptist in Godalming, Busbridge. It was created around 1895 by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens to commemorate Julia Jekyll, who was the mother of Gertrude Jekyll. The tomb features a moulded stone slab with a curved top, adorned with a cross in relief that has a splayed top and arms. An inscription is located at the base of the tombstone. This tomb is noted in the catalogue of the Lutyens Exhibition at the Haywood Gallery, edited by Margaret Richardson.
